REINVENTION OF THE WATCH ON AN IDEA BY SBARRO
Franco Sbarro, the brilliant creator of concept cars and prestigious inventor of technological solutions. Working with this idea and inspired by Eric Varone, a team of Swiss watchmakers, headed by designer-technician, Willy Meier, has developed a brilliantly innovative watch. It is styled by the famous designer, Jork Hysek, and revolutionizes the art of time by allying the golden rules of watchmaking expertise to a unique avant-garde vision. An existing calibre had to be totally rethought to achieve the technical prowess of obtaining precision from an off-centre movement which acts on the double crown of the watch. But the most astonishing feature of all is perhaps the nature of the main patent. The physical and visual aperture of the watch has itself been patented. Development of this timepiece called for exceptional technological expertise. The motor is situated between the two crowns and disks with more than 300 teeth had to be made to obtain an adequate multiplication ratio to ensure reliable working of the watch. Still more difficult, the attainment of the water-resistance, which is imperative for any chic yet sporty watch, required a prodigious feat of the imagination and the creation of specific tooling for the watch case.
